Barnabas Bar Petra is a charitable, educational and/or religious 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation
dedicated to meet some of the needs of the Third World.  Beginning with the Caribbean community,
Barnabas Bar Petra provides projects designed to benefit children with disabilities and young people
with low educational achievements.  
     
     Barnabas Bar Petra:
  • Provides functional training, adaptive and supportive equipment to children with disabilities.  
    These  services are done by rehabilitation specialists at Rehabilitation Centers, Camps and homes.
  • Seeks to identify and selects needed areas for development such as vocational training for the
    disabled.
  • Collects and disperse materials and funds.
  • Encourages the exchange of ideas and information vital to promote self-sufficiency in Third World
    youths through the provision of training in Rehabilitation Camps.

                                  
 BARNABAS BAR PETRA'S IDEOLOGY:
      All children with disabilities, their families and their caregivers should have access to resources that
will provide self-care home management training.  Also that troubled and disillusion young people
should have access to environment where they can realistically learn to appreciate what privileges they
have and how they can utilize their available resources to benefit the less fortunate in their society.



                                                    
            MISSION

     To serve the Third World community by:
  1. Providing training in Self-care Home Management for children with disabilities and their caregivers.
  2. Fostering and promoting the success of young people in areas of new and existing business.  
    Creating an environment where young people can develop critical thinking skills, providing the
    tools to motivate them towards education and self-reliance, and deter the massive exodus to cities
    of First World Countries, where they may become unproductive or even destructive.  
  3. Developing faith through the teaching of Christian principles for life - “Help your neighbor”.
  4. Encouraging the spirit of patriotism in young people so that their community can grow socially,
    economically, spiritually, and in function.


                                               
               PURPOSE

     The purpose of this non-profit corporation is to serve as the hub through which many organizations,
companies, businesses and individuals can effectively channel their charitable resources to benefit
Third World Countries.   This service will reduce the negative impact of unwanted migration to the
Americas and other First World Countries.  The two primary groups served by Barnabas Bar Petra are
children with disabilities and young people with lower educational achievements.  It is the goal of
Barnabas Bar Petra to provide the necessary tools and create the environment for children with
disabilities to learn life skills.  Also, young people may become self-reliant and productive members of
their community.  The desired outcomes of this program are:         
  • Improvement in the quality of life of children with disabilities.
  • Reduction in the burden endured by families of children with disabilities and development of hope
    in these families.
  • Reduction in the number of unskilled workers migrating to the Americas or First World Countries.


SUMMARY

Barnabas Bar Petra operates Rehabilitation Centers where children with disabilities can spend
designated periods of time with their caregivers/families to learn skills and be trained in developmental
techniques appropriate and specific to each child.  These life skills are designed to equip children with
disabilities with capabilities that will promote higher levels of self-care and independence.  Barnabas Bar
Petra also operates Training Camps where young people with low educational achievements can be
equipped with the tools necessary for self-care management and vocational training.   

     Barnabas Bar Petra is NOT
the organization that provides residential home for children with
disabilities.  The function of Barnabas Bar Petra is to support and enhance existing governmental
facilities and strengthens the work provided by established children residential homes.  Barnabas Bar
Petra’s role is to provide services to clients who have already exhausted the governmental resources,
and need further training techniques or equipment that will maximize their potential when performing
activities of daily living.  Barnabas Bar Petra will work closely with the existing governmental system in
each place and address the problems associated with caring for children with disabilities.
